Why Computer Education

Protecting the children of commercial women in prostitution from sexual exploitation, abuse and violence is critical to ending sexual enslavement. ASSET advocates the deployment of technical education (as opposed to vocational skill provision) as a crucial mechanism for increasing the employability of these young adults. Providing the children of women in prostitution with technical skills not only broadens their access to computer and information technology but also provides them with sustainable opportunities for employment. In the past decade, the global economy has placed a large emphasis on information technology and looks to India for service provision in a spectrum of areas. By leveraging the skills of marginalized communities, corporations can gain from a valuable and committed workforce and the prostitution community can benefit from secure and gainful employment outside of the sex industry. This mutually beneficial arrangement creates an outcome that furthers the economy as well the important social agenda of eradicating poverty.

We partner with local NGOs that have an established a relationship with the prostitution community. We leverage their trusted relationships to further the education of children of women in prostitution and other under-served young-adults.
